New Presidential Shake Roof For Our Friend In East Nashville, Tennessee

The customer wanted a "cottage" look to the exterior of her home. She did not want what everyone else around had, but something unique, stands out, and makes it feel more like home. She decided to go with a black CertainTeed Presidential Shake Roof. This is a 50-YEAR Roof. Can't beat the quality of this shingle!

The customer had slat-decking with no gaps. We only had to replace what was damaged. We installed our own custom flashing around the skylight. Installed new flashing around the headwall and chimney. Installed new 24" metal valleys. We even installed new EPDM rubber roofing on the back section. This roof had a little bit of everything!

CertainTeed Presidential Shingles are very unique when installing. The offset is 5" & 15" connecting like a puzzle. The Starter Strips are two layers with cuts 20" off the top and 2" off the bottom when starting to keep the pattern consistent. The Ice&Water-Shield is specific for these shingles, including using 24" metal valleys. The Valley Metal comes in rolls, so we had to custom make those too. We used the CertainTeed Synthetic Roof-Runner Underlayment, with matching Almond Drip-Edge to match the customer's fascia metal.

We started using the Catch-All System around the home. In the photo, is the black covers/tarps held up by poles with our logo and QR code attached. When materials fall off of high steep roofs, it is saving all the flowers under it. It is also helping to collect all the nails and shingles falling off the roof making cleanup easier. Greatly reducing the amount of nails hidden in the grass. We cover the AC Unit so nails won't fall into it as well.
